What is a neat picture?

Neat Image is a computer program that removes digital noise from captured images and improves the quality of other images as well.

Neat Image is available as a standalone application for Windows, OS X, and Linux, and as a Photoshop plugin (Windows, OS X).

Neat Image enlarges digital camera images, scanned negatives and positives, and scanned prints.

Neat Image works like a special digital filter. Our filters are specially designed to reduce visible noise in your digital photos. When shooting with a digital camera, image noise usually comes from two main sources: the random nature of the captured light, and the imperfect nature of the camera's image sensor and circuitry, especially in high ISO mode. On scans from older sources, silver halide particles from high speed film are the main source of noise.
